School of Education

Few things are more rewarding for a teacher than seeing the triumph on the face of a student when he or she understands a concept. Not only will you experience this feeling first-hand, but you will learn how to create a spark of your own.

The School of Education at Buena Vista University offers programs in teacher education. Upon successful completion of a current teacher education program, you may be eligible for certification by the State of Iowa to teach appropriate coursework in elementary and secondary schools.

Few professions offer college students greater opportunities for significant contributions to the future than those in education. In addition, the skills of a teacher are applicable to other professions. Industry, business, and government hire teachers because of their ability to communicate effectively, plan, organize and deliver. A teaching background opens the doors to a variety of exciting options.

“The School of Education provides students with personalized advising and continuous support by a faculty member in their major area throughout the four year journey. I have had the opportunity to personally work with students in the TESL program and foster tremendous growth in our students as they make the transition from being a student in the classroom to becoming an educator.”
