Dr. Holly Silverthorn
- Instructor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling
At the core of Dr. Silverthorn's teaching philosophy is the belief that learning should be a personalized and collaborative experience. She assumes a constructivist pedagogy and believes that every student brings their strengths, interests, and prior knowledge into the classroom, and my goal is to create an environment where they feel empowered to take ownership of their learning. She views learners as active participants constructing knowledge through meaningful engagement with content, peers, and real-world experiences. Dr. Silverthorn cultivates an atmosphere that encourages intrinsic motivation, critical thinking, and lifelong learning by valuing each student's voice.
Dr. Silverthorn is a reptile enthusiast. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with chameleons, tegus, and bearded dragons, reading, spending time with her family, and listening to music.
