Dr. Karin Strohmyer

Dr. Karin Strohmyer has been a member of the Buena Vista University community since 2011.  She is actively engaged in schools and research surrounding self-determination, inclusive educational practices, paraprofessional development, and special education teacher attrition and retention. Karin has written district level guidelines and handbooks on Response to Intervention and Transitions. Karin recently developed the Youth and Families Empowered for Success program, which employs special education interns to work with schools, families and youth to improve self-determination skills among students with disabilities. Karin and her students have presented their work at the state level as well as nationally and internationally.
