Dr. Shanelle Clay

Dr. Shanelle Clay is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) for the last decade serving District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and Minnesota. She has a variety of experience in multiple clinical settings including school-based therapy, private practice, community, and college. Dr. Clay is also a national certified counselor (NCC), approved clinical supervisor (ACS) and board-certified telemental health provider (BC-TMH). As a counselor educator, she is guided by a quote from Zora Neale Hurston: "Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one." She is motivated by the opportunity to foster relationships with students while they are learning and growing as clinicians.

Dr. Clay obtained her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Duquesne University, her master’s in counseling from Trinity Washington University, and bachelor’s in psychology from Delaware State University.

Dr. Clay’s primary research interests include clinical supervision, intersectionality as it applies to mental health treatment and supervision, professional identity, child and adolescent, and mental health in school settings.

Dr. Clay’s personal interest includes all things regarding travel, documentaries, and music.
