Dr. Stephanie Johnson believes that effective counseling education is not just about mastering theory but also about developing self-awareness, empathy, and ethical practice. She creates a supportive learning environment that encourages open dialogue, reflection, and critical thinking. By modeling essential counseling skills such as active listening, cultural humility, and trauma-informed care, Dr. Johnson empowers students to integrate academic knowledge with the interpersonal skills necessary for working effectively with clients. Her emphasis on linking research-based strategies to day-to-day clinical work equips students to navigate the complexities of the counseling profession with confidence and competence.

Outside of teaching, Dr. Stephanie Johnson enjoys counseling her clients, leading mental health yoga classes in her community, and spending quality time with her two boys. She loves hiking and reading books. She is also a dedicated advocate for mental health, with a particular focus on reducing the stigma surrounding men's mental health.
