Flexible Two-Year Online Graduate Program
Buena Vista University's Master of Education in Educational Administration program provides currently licensed educators with the knowledge, skills, and certification necessary to become a PK-12 school administrator. The program aims to equip future principals with the skills, insights, and resilience needed to positively impact teaching and leadership practices, contributing to the enhancement of educational systems and student success.

Earn a Master's Alongside Your Principal Licensure
BVU’s online Master of Education in Educational Administration program was created for educators planning to take the next step in their careers, ultimately preparing them for a variety of leadership roles including principalship. This program is fully accredited and leads to principal licensure in the state of Iowa. We have staff who are ready to assist you in determining the licensure requirements for other states. For information on licensure in other states, please reach out to grad@bvu.edu.
In addition, we believe that earning your degree should be affordable — which is why our program is priced at $495 per credit hour.
Outside of principalship, graduates of this program can move into positions that include activities or athletic directors, deans of students, curriculum directors, or leadership positions in human resources or area education agencies.
Rolling Application
- Classes begin each January, May, and August
No GRE required. Save time and money.
33 credit hours | Cost/credit: $495 | Completed in two years.
Graduates will earn a master's degree with an initial PK-12 principal certification in the state of Iowa.
Transfer Credit
Students enrolled in the program can transfer up to nine credits from a previously completed accredited education leadership program earned in the last five years.
