Purpose & Relevance Reimagined

In May 2018, Buena Vista University officially inaugurated our eighteenth President, Dr. Joshua D. Merchant. The events were a celebration of the President’s eminent purpose and his outlook on the novel relevance of the University.

President Merchant’s vast achievements and 20 years of experience in higher education have prepared him to take the helm and address Buena Vista University's opportunities and challenges. His core values are those that reside in the heart of our Storm Lake community, and he looks forward to pairing BVU’s transformational mission with its strong values.

Congratulations, Josh! It's great to be part of this celebration of your achievements thus far. Wishing you and Carrie much success at BVU! So happy it has happened to be in Iowa - a place I love dearly.

Congrats! May BVU bring you the best years of your life!

Congratulations, Dr. Merchant and Carrie. Having grown up in the shadows of Buena Vista and then working with Josh earlier in his career at Michigan State, this is the intersection of two of my historical points. Best wishes to you both and best of luck.
