This semester, six BVU students are working with a Storm Lake High School advanced ecology class to analyze microplastics in marine environments such as Storm Lake.

Regina Appleby, a sophomore at BVU, was selected as a 2018 Campus Election Engagement Project Fellow through Iowa Campus Compact.

The BVU junior manages to make time for regional rodeo competitions throughout the year, thanks to the support of BVU faculty and staff. She also plays guard on the Beaver women’s basketball team.

More than 100 Special Olympics Iowa athletes participated in a variety of fun activities with BVU coaches, staff, faculty, and students.

The 2018 grad was exposed to radio opportunities from the start of his time at BVU. Now he is proving that hard work pays off, by watching his aspirations become reality.

Buena Vista University was awarded a research grant in the amount of $329,633 to study reading comprehension in middle schoolers.

The Westphal Top Graduate Student Paper Award was created by the Iowa Communication Association in honor of education enthusiast Frank George Westphal and seeks to recognize excellent scholarship in Iowa the graduate programs.

The week was full of activities and fun for BVU students and alumni. Activities included Triviathon, Coronation, the Beaver Boardwalk, and more.

Individuals and couples were honored for their service to Buena Vista University and to their communities at a special luncheon and at halftime of the Homecoming game on Oct. 6.

Performances will take place Oct. 11-13, featuring radio plays from the Golden Age of radio. From The Shadow to Baby Snooks, and from soap opera to the Marx Brothers, audiences can experience three unique nights of radio programs.

Alan Maldonado and Holly Schneider were crowned king and queen at the coronation ceremony. The event came after a four days of Homecoming festivities on campus, including Triviathon, midnight movies, a game show, and more.

Aaron Sanders balanced responsibility for his three young children with online classes from BVU. A year after tragedy struck his family, he saw his hard work rewarded with a bachelor's degree.

Merchant appeared alongside WHO meteorologist Jeriann Ritter and beloved mascot Buford T. Beaver to deliver a chilly fall forecast in Des Moines.

BVU faculty are passionate enough about their fields, that they spend much of their free time pursuing research and professional development opportunities around the world. For the 2018-2019 school year, several faculty members are bringing new knowledge and personal experiences to their classrooms.

The initiative comprises a network of colleges and universities committed to encouraging and highlighting the work of student affairs in making civic learning and democratic engagement a part of every student’s college education.
