President Joshua D. Merchant will join several BVU alumni on three recently-announced rural initiative task forces.

Merle Olive Garton Phillips, age 111, passed away on Aug. 18, 2018. She was Buena Vista's oldest known alum and outstanding friend of the University.

Ben Dvergsten and Jennifer Hustedt will be the co-chairs for its 2018-2019 Community Campaign

Merten served Buena Vista University for 39 years in a variety of roles, retiring as Vice President of Business Services in 2016.

The honor is based upon first year experience and retention efforts alongside its general education programs, alumni success, strategic plan, student satisfaction, and more.

BVU student Jenny Schildroth is spending the summer interning at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. The coveted internship is part of BVU’s partnership with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars program.

Established in 2014, the unique program allows students to complete three years at BVU as a pre-law student and three years at either CUSL or the University of Iowa College of Law.

The Governor's Volunteer Award program, which is coordinated by Volunteer Iowa and is in its 35th year, recognizes the dedicated people who volunteer their time and talent to help fulfill the missions of Iowa nonprofits, charitable organizations, and government entities.

A visit to John Deere World Headquarters served as an unmatched opportunity for BVU business students.

With its free peanuts, large flat screen TVs, giveaways, and amazing smoked meats, Smokin’ Hereford has become a favorite among BVU students.

SCJ is the nation’s oldest organization designed solely to serve college media leaders. Today, the organization has approximately 100 active chapters nationwide and 1,200 members.

The Fellows visited a variety of cities and historical locations, including Reykjavik, Iceland; Copenhagen, Denmark; Bergen, Norway; Oslo, Norway; and Stockholm, Sweden.

The location will provide classes in a variety of formats, including face-to-face courses in the evening, online courses, and courses delivered via web-based video.

On July 1, BVU welcomed six new members to the National Alumni Association Board of Directors. They will offer advice, volunteer service, and financial support to the University.
