The Beaver Football team won their second consecutive season opener with a victory over Hamline University under the stadium lights on Aug. 30, with the support of the Storm Lake community in the stands. The final score was 39-27.
Thursday evening’s admission was free to the public and featured a “white out” theme, with students donning white “Defend the Lake” t-shirts. The tailgating lot opened at 3 p.m. where Beaver Boosters grilled for the fans. Beaver tattoos and more prizes were given away, and the community had the opportunity to take photos with Buford T. Beaver and watch a halftime performance by the Storm Lake High School Drumline. After the win, the team gathered near the student section to sing BVU's Alma Mater in unison, followed by a new Beaver Nation chant marking a new game-winning tradition.
