Sarah Mackey

Zach Schmidt '16

IT Services Lead, Hulu

Zach took advantage of every opportunity at BVU. While here, he served as Station Manager for BVU’s television station, BVTV, and its radio station, KBVU. He started a camera club and completed three internships, including two in Los Angeles, where he worked for Awesomeness TV, Comedy Central, and Spike. These roles, paired with playing a part in developing the documentary, “Growing Magic: The Mickey Mouse Cornfield Story,” led him to being serious about his work and ultimately securing his job at Hulu shortly after moving to Los Angeles.

Bri Funte

Bri Funte '14

Director of External Affairs, Atlantic Coast Conference

With the goal of working in sports, Bri was sold on BVU the moment she talked to Professor Jerry Johnson and discovered the Minnesota Vikings internship. In addition to the Vikings internship, she embarked on an academic trip to Disney during Interim and interned for the Green Bay Packers, Buena Vista Racetrack, and the Omaha Lancers hockey team. Bri is now the Director of External Affairs for the Atlantic Coast Conference – a success she credits to the media knowledge and skills she gained at BVU.

Andrew Bandstra

Andrew Bandstra '19

Broadcaster, Media Relations Manager, and Marketing Coordinator, Southern Maryland Blue Crabs

Andrew landed his dream job five months before he even graduated from BVU. Not only did he play baseball for the Beavers, but he completed internships for the Minnesota Vikings and PBS. Through those experiences, Andrew landed broadcast positions with the D.C. Grays, a collegiate baseball team in Washington, D.C., and the Blue Crabs, a franchise that competes in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. His paid internship with the Blue Crabs led him to securing a full-time position with the team.

Ravi Kumar

Ravi Kumar '10

Program Officer, The World Bank

The power of the small community at BVU helped Ravi become more confident and equipped him with the tools to navigate the world. He now uses his knowledge to benefit others through his position at The World Bank, an organization dedicated to ending extreme poverty and promoting shared prosperity in a sustainable way. Ravi, who earned his master’s in journalism at Columbia University in 2012, also founded the nonprofit Code for Nepal where he strives to open Nepal’s data to make it easily accessible while providing scholarships to young Nepali to become digitally savvy.

Alumni Networking

Digital Media alumni love sharing their expertise and connections with current BVU students. They often speak to students in the classroom or through virtual lectures. You will learn from their experiences, and make valuable connections to help you land that internship or job.
