Students Present Academic Work at Scholars Day
Scholars Day provides students from all disciplines an opportunity to present their best original research, scholarly work, and artistic creations. The keynote speakers were Barb (Buckwalter) Lange '92 and Mike Sullivan '05.
Buena Vista University's 15th annual Scholars Day was held on Saturday, April 27. The event included more than 60 presentations and posters, exploring topics from literature and education to science and history.
The Scholars Day event provides students from all disciplines an opportunity to present their best original research, scholarly work, artistic creations, and performances to their peers, professors, and the public.
Not only do students benefit from the opportunity to present their work, but the BVU and Storm Lake communities benefit from the chance to see the great work being done by BVU students.”

“Scholars Day is an opportunity for students to present their best academic work to their peers, faculty, family, friends, and influential people in their life,” said Dr. Tracy Thomas, assistant professor of psychology and chair of the events committee who organized the event. “Not only do students benefit from the opportunity to present their work, but the BVU and Storm Lake communities benefit from the chance to see the great work being done by BVU students.”
The keynote speakers for the event were Ms. Barb (Buckwalter) Lange ’92, Storm Lake Elementary School principal, and Mr. Michael Sullivan ’05, assistant principal at Storm Lake Elementary School. The two BVU alumni reflected on their college experiences and shared their ideas on how to achieve success.
