The Buena Vista University organization Student MOVE (Mobilizing Outreach & Volunteer Efforts) will be hosting their Glass Slipper Shop event in the Harold Walter Siebens Forum on the BVU campus.
The event is open to members of the Storm Lake and surrounding communities on the following dates and times:
- Friday, Feb. 27 from 3 – 6:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. – noon
- Friday, March 6 from 3 – 6:30 p.m.
- Saturday, March 7 from 9 a.m. – noon
The Glass Slipper Shop gives the local community the opportunity to purchase new and gently used prom dresses and other formal dresses at a lower cost. Approximately 400 dresses of various styles, sizes and colors were donated by dress shops such as Sequins Bridal in Cherokee, Teresa's Bridal in Algona, Bridal Country in Carroll and Stacey's Bridal in Des Moines. Dresses are sold at extremely reduced prices and may be negotiated if necessary.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided during the event. Glass Slipper Shop proceeds will go to the Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault (CAASA) Storm Lake office to benefit those in need.
BVU's Student MOVE organization works to improve lives, foster civic engagement and strengthen the connection between the Storm Lake and University communities. It generates opportunities for BVU students to grow and explore their hidden passions through character-building programs such as service-learning, alternative events and student education.
