Step Afrika! Brings Art of Stepping to BVU Campus

The dance company promotes an appreciation for stepping as a contemporary dance genre and its use as an educational, motivational, and healthy tool for young people.

On Feb. 16, members of the Buena Vista University and Storm Lake communities experienced a performance by Step Afrika! in Schaller Memorial Chapel on the BVU campus. Step Afrika! was founded in 1994 as the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping, and now ranks as one of the top ten African American dance companies in the United States. The company promotes an appreciation for stepping as a contemporary dance genre and its use as an educational, motivational, and healthy tool for young people.

The performance was part of the University's Academic and Cultural Events Series (ACES).
