Senior Athletic Training Major Misses Working with BVU Athletes

Former high school athlete, Brandon Huberty, finds his calling as an athletic trainer. During his time at BVU his bond grew strong with Beaver athletes.

Brandon Huberty participated in football, basketball, and track during his time at Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School.

He would add a couple of sports during his undergraduate experience at Buena Vista University. Not on the playing field, per se. But, rather, treating the Beavers who played football, softball, women’s soccer, men’s soccer, and baseball.

“During my time at BVU, I’ve enjoyed working with the teams.”

Huberty, a senior majoring in athletic training, plans to attend graduate school or earn a spot as a teaching assistant in athletic training once he graduates in May.

“I began looking at the athletic training major as a senior in high school,” Huberty says. “During my time at BVU, I’ve enjoyed working with the teams.”

Each year, Huberty met required hours, a commitment that keeps him busy staffing sessions before, during, and after practices, as well as games.

As his collegiate career ends, Huberty says he misses working with the Beavers.

“You build up a rapport with athletes,” he says. “I also miss hanging out with my friends.”
