Maureen Heffernan Joins Board of Trustees
Buena Vista University has announced that Maureen Heffernan of Sioux City, Iowa, has been elected to its Board of Trustees. She is a partner with the law firm of Moore, Heffernan, Moeller, Johnson & Meis, L.L.P.
Buena Vista University has announced that Maureen Heffernan of Sioux City, Iowa, has been elected to its Board of Trustees.
Heffernan is a partner with the law firm of Moore, Heffernan, Moeller, Johnson & Meis, L.L.P., where her practice focuses on employment, education and healthcare law. She received her bachelor's degree in 1981 and her JD in 1985 both from the University of Iowa.
"Ms. Heffernan is a well-respected lawyer with substantial higher education experience," says BVU President Fred Moore. "Maureen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Board deliberations and is dedicated to helping the University reach even greater heights. We are pleased to welcome her to the academic affairs and audit committees."
Maureen has served on the BVU President's Advisory Council since 2014. She is a member of the Woodbury County and Iowa State Bar Associations, American Health Lawyers Association, Iowa Society of Healthcare Attorneys and the Iowa Council of School Board Attorneys. She has previously served on the Catholic School Foundation Board of the Diocese of Sioux City as well as the Food Bank of Siouxland Board of Directors.

Maureen's husband, Dan, is Vice President of HR Operations at Tyson Foods, Inc. in Dakota Dunes, S.D., and they have three children, Elizabeth '14, currently in her second year at the University of Iowa College of Law, Michael, a junior at Creighton University and Kathryn, a sophomore at Iowa State University.
