BVU's Army ROTC program is part of the department that has won one of eight MacArthur Awards for the 2011-12 academic year. This puts the BVU program in the top 1 percent of all ROTC programs nationally.
Iowa State University's Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) department has won one of eight MacArthur Awards for the 2011-12 school year.
The ISU department represents Cadet Command’s Third Brigade, which includes the ROTC program at Buena Vista University. This is the second consecutive year the department has won the award and puts the BVU program in the top 1 percent of all ROTC programs nationally.
The awards, presented by the U.S. Army Cadet Command and the Gen. Douglas MacArthur Foundation, recognize the ideals of, “duty, honor and country” as advocated by MacArthur.
The award is based on a combination of the achievement of the school’s commissioning mission and its cadets' performance and standing on the Command’s national Order of Merit List and its cadet retention rate.
