KBVU Earns Iowa ‘Station of the Year’ Honors, Digital Media Students Land 38 State Awards

In addition to eight first-place awards across categories in online media, television, and radio, the BVU digital media program earned ICMA’s First Amendment Award.

Buena Vista University digital media students won 38 media awards at the 2019 Iowa College Media Association (ICMA) conference on Thursday in Des Moines.

In addition to eight first-place awards across categories in online media, television, and radio, the BVU digital media program earned ICMA’s First Amendment Award, and KBVU 97.5 “The Edge” was recognized as Radio Station of the Year.

“The digital media faculty were all gratified to see the students’ hard work and dedication honored at the statewide level,” says Dr. Andrea Frantz, professor of digital media. “KBVU’s designation as collegiate Radio Station of the Year is a recognition of outstanding team effort, which is something on which we place a great deal of emphasis.”

KBVU earned one of two special awards during the event, claiming the organization’s first Radio Station of the Year honor. BVTV’s Morgan McGrew secured the First Amendment Award.
