Buena Vista University media students and organizations were recognized in three categories for the College Media Association (CMA) Organizational Pinnacle Awards. The Pinnacle Awards honor the best student newspapers, television and radio stations, websites, yearbooks and magazines from colleges and universities across the nation.

The awards were presented at the CMA Fall National College Media Convention which took place Oct. 29-Nov.2 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Andrea Frantz, associate professor of digital media, and Scott Locati, a senior digital media major from Omaha, Nebraska, and KBVU co-station manager, attended the conference to receive the awards.

The awards earned by BVU were:

Other finalists in these categories included DePaul University, Savannah College of Art and Design, University of California-Long Beach, California State University-Fullerton, Iowa State University and Vanderbilt University. BVU was one of only two schools recognized as a finalist in more than one radio category.

“To achieve finalist status in the Pinnacles is effectively to be recognized as one of the top three student media organizations in the nation in that category. That KBVU and The Tack were recognized three times in Philadelphia reflects well on the hard work and dedication students commit to these projects," said Frantz.
