BVU, Van Meter Schools Connect Via Strategic Partnership
To provide opportunities for employees and their family members to enhance their education and careers, the Van Meter Community School District has partnered with Buena Vista University.
Buena Vista University (BVU) and the Van Meter Community School District (Van Meter CSD) have connected in a Strategic Partnership to help promote education and growth throughout their communities.
This partnership allows for employees of the Van Meter CSD, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.
BVU professors and staff are also available for training programs, workshops, and more should officials with the Van Meter CSD seek those services and expertise.
“I was excited to hear about our partnership with Buena Vista University. BVU impacted my life, and hopefully it can help impact other people’s lives as well.”
Cody Tibbets, Van Meter CSD Elementary Principal
“A Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University represents a great benefit for our employees and will help to increase education throughout our communities,” says Van Meter CSD Superintendent Deron Durflinger. “We look forward to working closely with BVU and are excited for our employees and their family members to utilize this opportunity.”
Located in central Iowa, the Van Meter CSD has approximately 1,000 students in grades PK-12. The district is housed in one building in Van Meter and has 100 employees.
“I was excited to hear about our partnership with Buena Vista University,” says Van Meter CSD Elementary Principal Cody Tibbets, a BVU graduate. “BVU impacted my life, and hopefully it can help impact other people’s lives as well.”
“Our partnership will help provide opportunities to many employees of the Van Meter Community School District as well as their family members,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “Individuals can enhance their education and careers through BVU’s programs, made even more affordable through this partnership.”
