BVU Theatre to present Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet"
BVU Theatre has announced the cast of its spring production of "Romeo and Juliet," which will take place April 27-30. BVU will be performing a new spin on this well-known story in honor of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.
Buena Vista University Theatre has announced the cast of its spring production of "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare, which will take place April 27-30 at 7:30 p.m. in Anderson Auditorium on the BVU campus.
BVU's production of "Romeo and Juliet" will be directed by Dr. Bethany Larson, associate professor of theatre, with technical direction by David Grant Walker, assistant professor of theatre.
The cast of "Romeo and Juliet" is made up of BVU students including:
- Claire Boston, a senior theatre and digital media major from Cedar Rapids
- Austin Dean, a freshman graphic design and visual communication major from Dubuque
- Austin Delp, a theatre major from Alta
- Nadia Ecyomuhendo, a sophomore biology major from Kigali, Rwanda
- Ciera Fergen, a freshman vocal music performance and theatre major from Spirit Lake
- Katherine Ford, a junior digital media major from Piqua, Ohio
- Chancellor Johnson, a freshman chemistry major from Nashua
- Kathryn Keller, a freshman biology and theatre major from Rolfe
- Rachel LaPaglia, a freshman criminology and criminal justice and theatre major from Sioux City
- Madeleine McCormick, a sophomore digital media major from Huxley
- Matthew Schulz, a junior theatre and vocal music performance major from Waverly
- Tanner Wood, a junior business and mathematics major from Springfield, Mo.
"Romeo and Juliet" is the classic story from Shakespeare of two star-crossed lovers from feuding families. It is a story that has endured throughout time as one of Shakespeare's most popular plays, and BVU will be performing a new spin on this well-known story in honor of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.
Tickets for the show will be available starting April 18 and can be reserved online at www.bvu.edu/tickets or by calling the BVU Theatre Hotline at 712.749.2211. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens and may be picked up at the door before the performance.
