BVU, Ridge View Enter Strategic Partnership

Ridge View and Buena Vista University seek to strengthen the workforce and their communities through a Strategic Partnership, providing education benefits to employees of the district and their eligible family members.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and Ridge View have entered a Strategic Partnership, working to build up the people and communities both entities serve.

This partnership allows for employees of Ridge View, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

BVU professors and staff are also available for training programs, workshops, and more should officials with Ridge View seek those services and expertise.

“This win-win partnership connects us with BVU in a positive way, helping to support individuals as they pursue higher education, strengthening our local workforce.”

“We look forward to providing additional resources to our staff and their families through this Strategic Partnership with BVU,” says Ridge View Superintendent of Schools Jon Wiebers. “This win-win partnership connects us with BVU in a positive way, helping to support individuals as they pursue higher education, strengthening our local workforce.”

Ridge View educates students from the school districts of Galva-Holstein and Schaller-Crestland, serving the communities of Early, Galva, Holstein, Nemaha, and Schaller. Approximately 160 employees serve nearly 800 students. The high school is located in Holstein, the middle school stands in Early, while Holstein and Schaller have elementary schools.

"I'm very grateful for choosing to pursue my bachelor’s degree through Buena Vista University because there is such an emphasis on relationship-building,” says Karlie Krager, a second-grade teacher and a 2021 BVU graduate.

As a commuting student, Krager was able to forge a strong connection to the University by being involved in campus organizations, such as Teacher’s Inc. and Kappa Delta Pi. She was also able to build meaningful relationships with her professors that remain strong today.

“I knew that I wanted to stay and work close to home, so it was wonderful to experience observations within the classroom through local school districts and build connections with my cooperating teachers so I can use them as resources as I begin my career in education," Krager continues.

“BVU is excited to partner with Ridge View and offer educational benefits to their employees and family members,” says Laura Todd, Director of Strategic Partnerships at BVU. “We strive to create mutually beneficial partnerships and work together to strengthen our communities through education.”
