BVU, Professional Computer Solutions, LLC, Establish Strategic Partnership

Through a Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University, Professional Computer Solutions, LLC, seeks to broaden educational opportunities for employees and their eligible family members.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and Professional Computer Solutions, LLC, (PCS) have joined forces as Strategic Partners to strengthen their communities.

This partnership allows for employees of PCS, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

“We are excited to partner with Buena Vista University to offer educational benefits to our employees, several of whom have children that are high school-aged and preparing for college,” says PCS Senior Vice President of Administrative Services Dana Ingerslev. “This Strategic Partnership is also an enhancement to our current education assistance program available to employees at PCS, so it’s really a win-win situation not only for our business and BVU, but for the communities we serve as well.”

PCS serves the utility industry with billing and accounting software solutions. The Denison-based company, which was locally founded 40 years ago, also provides technical expertise and leading-edge business services, including developed and distributed software, installation, support, consulting services, and networking.

PCS employs about 40 team members and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Central Service Association of Tupelo, Miss. The two companies combined serve more than 160 utilities in 29 states, plus the island of Bermuda.

PCS’s new business coordinator, Rachel Desy, previously had the opportunity to complete three of the courses in BVU’s Organizational Leadership Graduate Program.

“I felt the classes really catapulted me to the next level, and it was a rewarding experience to learn new strategies that could be applied both personally and professionally,” says Desy, who received her bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2009. “My experience while completing my undergraduate degree on campus in Storm Lake was wonderful as well. It’s a beautiful campus and everything is so interconnected, so it felt like home to me right away. My professors were accessible, and I felt comfortable asking questions or for additional support when needed. I can’t share enough positive comments about my experience at BVU.”

BVU has long enjoyed strong educational ties in and around Denison, home to Western Iowa Tech Community College, a campus that has collaborated with BVU for decades. Students enrolled in a program through WITCC can seamlessly transfer their credits toward their bachelor’s degree at BVU. Students receive personalized support including admissions and enrollment counseling and academic advising right in Denison through BVU’s office on the WITCC campus.

“Buena Vista University strives to provide additional opportunities to community members across Iowa, and we look forward to our partnership with PCS,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “As we work together, we continue supporting our communities through educational opportunities.”
