BVU President Appointed to NCAA Committee

BVU President Josh Merchant, Ph.D. has been appointed as a member of the NCAA Division III Nominating Committee.

Buena Vista University President Josh Merchant, Ph.D. has been appointed as a member of the NCAA Division III Nominating Committee. His term of service on the committee will begin at the close of the January 2019 Convention and continue through the close of the 2021 Convention.

The committee coordinates nominations for the Division III Management Council, all general committees that report to the Management Council, all Division III sports committees, and all Division III positions on the Association-wide and common committees. There are eight committee members total.

Division III Nominating Committee duties and responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing nominations for vacancies on all Division III-specific committees, including men’s and women’s sports committees, and for the Division III positions on committees functioning in an Association-wide or multidivisional capacity.
  • Forwarding appointment recommendations to the Division III Management Council and Championship Committee.
  • Developing procedures and policies for soliciting nominees, reviewing nominations, and recommending appointments.
  • Soliciting nominees for consideration for committee vacancies. 

President Merchant will be eligible to be reappointed to an additional two-year term in 2021.
