BVU, Pocahontas Area Community School Bond in Strategic Partnership

Through a Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University, the Pocahontas Area Community School provides educational benefits to its employees and their eligible family members.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and Pocahontas Area Community School (PAC) have entered a Strategic Partnership, uplifting the communities both entities serve.

This partnership allows for employees of PAC, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

BVU professors and staff are also available for training programs, workshops, and more should officials with PAC seek those services and expertise.

“The University strives to provide additional opportunities to community members across Iowa, and we look forward to our partnership with Pocahontas Area Community School.”

Laura Todd, BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships

“We are excited to partner with BVU, a university that is close to the district, and provide assistance to our employees and their families,” says PAC Superintendent of Schools Joe Kramer. “This partnership represents a mutually beneficial opportunity for our staff and for our community.”

Located in Pocahontas, PAC educates more than 700 students throughout preschool, elementary school, middle school, high school, and a regional learning center. Nearly 125 employees serve students from Pocahontas County and parts of Calhoun and Palo Alto counties.

“BVU has helped me immensely, providing the support I needed as an online student and preparing me for my future career,” says PAC Business Manager Karen Halder, a 2018 BVU graduate. “I look forward to this partnership and the ways this opportunity can help others earn their degree.”

“The University strives to provide additional opportunities to community members across Iowa, and we look forward to our partnership with Pocahontas Area Community School,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “Through our partner grant funding, employees and their family members have access to quality, affordable education to enhance their careers and their community.”
