BVU, Norwalk Schools Link Via Strategic Partnership

By partnering with Buena Vista University, the Norwalk Community School District offers educational benefits to its employees and their eligible family members.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and the Norwalk Community School District have formed a Strategic Partnership to support those who serve students.

This partnership allows for employees of the Norwalk schools, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

“The Norwalk Community School District is happy to establish a Strategic Partnership with BVU, which fits well with our mission of ‘Growing Learners and Leaders,’” says Norwalk Community School District Human Resources Director Jody Ratigan. “This benefit is a great opportunity for our employees and their family members.”

The Norwalk Community School District, which serves residents of Norwalk, Cumming, Spring Hill, and portions of Des Moines, West Des Moines, and rural Warren County, is located less than 10 miles south of Des Moines. The school district employs more than 480 staff members and provides educational programs for nearly 3,300 students in grades PK-12.

The Norwalk Community School District has been the recipient of many honors and accolades, including hosting numerous Iowa Teachers of the Year and Principals of the Year. The school district is a participant in the Leader in Me program, which works to develop students’ full potential.

“We are excited to be working with the Norwalk Community School District, an organization that not only boasts many honorable distinctions, but demonstrates positive contributions to the communities it serves,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “An accessible education remains at the heart of building stronger individuals and communities, so we look forward to the opportunities our collaboration in this Strategic Partnership will create.”
