BVU Names Director of Admissions
Conner Ellinghuysen, Buena Vista University's new director of admissions, has served in a variety of admission and advancement positions at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. He will begin in November.
Conner Ellinghuysen has been named director of admissions at Buena Vista University.
Ellinghuysen comes from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona, Minn., where he has served as associate director of admission. The Lewiston, Minn., native has been with Saint Mary’s working in a variety of admission and advancement positions before and after graduation in 2015.
He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Saint Mary’s.
“I am really excited for the opportunity to grow with Buena Vista University,” Ellinghuysen says. “I see great potential in and around BVU and could sense such a buzz on campus. I was so impressed with the people I met as they showed me several collaborative efforts, and I could easily see how hard everyone is working to promote and realize enrollment growth.”

“Conner’s rural background, his communicative abilities, and his energy for students and their families make him an outstanding fit for BVU and the goals we’re all striving to reach,” says Kevin McIntyre, BVU vice president of enrollment management. “Conner certainly knows what it takes to bring students on campus and then allow them to see all the visions we’re turning into reality.”
Ellinghuysen mentioned the Donald F. and Charlene K. Lamberti Center for Rural Entrepreneurship and the Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Resource Management, a pair of new initiatives, among others, taking shape on campus.
“I’m from a rural community myself and I’ve not seen many institutions like BVU really own rural education and put it to work for the benefit of the people and communities across the Midwest,” says Ellinghuysen, a former 4-H participant who remains affiliated with the program as an archery coach and volunteer.
Ellinghuysen, who begins work at BVU on Nov. 4, says he and his wife, Christine Ellinghuysen, are excited to relocate to the area and dive into a number of recreational opportunities, which include kayaking, hiking, archery, and traveling.
