BVU, Kuemper Catholic School Bond as Strategic Partners

By partnering with Buena Vista University, the Kuemper Catholic Schools will help support post-secondary education opportunities for employees and their family members.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and the Kuemper Catholic School have bonded as Strategic Partners, supporting those who serve students.

This partnership allows for employees of the Kuemper Catholic School, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

BVU professors and staff are also available for training programs, workshops, and more should officials with the Kuemper Catholic School seek those services and expertise.

“The quaint, quiet campus on the lake was definitely a draw, and I loved the small class sizes. It always felt personable, and you got to know your professors well.”

“A Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University opens a lot of opportunities for our employees as well as their family members,” says Kuemper Catholic School President John Steffes. “We are excited to utilize the benefits of this partnership to help support and encourage individuals to pursue post-secondary opportunities.”

The Kuemper Catholic School has more than 1,100 students from throughout Carroll, Sac, Crawford, and Green counties. The school’s 140 employees serve students in grades PK-12 throughout four sites in Carroll.

“The quaint, quiet campus on the lake was definitely a draw, and I loved the small class sizes. It always felt personable, and you got to know your professors well,” says Kuemper Catholic School Marketing and Enrollment Director Erin Sundrup, a 2002 BVU graduate. “I look forward to the opportunities this will bring to many, including my own children. I loved my time at BVU and hope that my children will also come to love the school they choose as much as I did.”

BVU has long enjoyed strong educational ties in and around Carroll, home to Des Moines Area Community College, a campus that has collaborated with BVU for many years. Students enrolled in a program through DMACC can seamlessly transfer their credits toward their bachelor’s degree at BVU. Students receive personalized support including admissions and enrollment counseling, and academic advising through BVU’s online and hybrid undergraduate programs.

“BVU is eager to partner with many schools and school districts to help support educators and their family members,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “We can’t wait to see how our partnership with the Kuemper Catholic School will create positive impacts in the Carroll community and beyond.”
