BVU, IKM-Manning Join Forces as Strategic Partners
By partnering with Buena Vista University, the IKM-Manning Community School District will provide educational opportunities for its employees and their family members.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and the IKM-Manning Community School District have collaborated as partners to strengthen the communities both entities serve.
This partnership allows for employees of IKM-Manning CSD, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.
BVU professors and staff are also available for training programs, workshops, and more should officials with IKM-Manning CSD seek those services and expertise.
“Partnering with BVU and offering educational benefits to our employees and their eligible family members will allow us to help strengthen our workforce and communities,” says IKM-Manning CSD Superintendent Trevor Miller, a BVU graduate. “We look forward to supporting individuals as they pursue opportunities to better themselves through education.”
“I am so proud to watch my daughter follow in my footsteps and attend BVU, where she has grown in the classroom and on the field playing softball. BVU has played a pivotal role in my life for which I am eternally grateful.”

The IKM-Manning CSD has approximately 125 employees that educate more than 680 students in grades PK-12. The district serves the communities of Irwin, Kirkman, Manilla, and Manning, as well as the surrounding areas.
“BVU was a great experience for me and helped me to prepare for life beyond college both as academics and athletics,” says Miller.
“I am so proud to watch my daughter follow in my footsteps and attend BVU, where she has grown in the classroom and on the field playing softball. BVU has played a pivotal role in my life for which I am eternally grateful,” says IKM-Manning CSD special education teacher Joy Gross, a BVU graduate. “This partnership provides our family savings as my daughter earns her degree and continues to provide savings as she enters BVU's Organizational Leadership Master's Program.”
“We look forward to our partnership with the IKM-Manning Community School District and the opportunities it will open up for many individuals,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “BVU strives to create meaningful partnerships with schools and organizations across Iowa to uplift and strengthen our workforce.”
