BVU, Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center Forge Strategic Partnership
Collaboration with Buena Vista University allows for employees of Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center, as well as their eligible family members, to receive educational benefits.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center have entered a Strategic Partnership that mutually benefits both organizations as they strive to strengthen the communities they serve.
This partnership allows for employees of Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.
“This Strategic Partnership is an exciting opportunity to offer to our employees.”
Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center Executive Director Laura Johnson
“This Strategic Partnership is an exciting opportunity to offer to our employees,” says Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center Executive Director Laura Johnson. “Individuals may want to enroll for some additional education, and this offers them a way to do it remotely and more affordably.”
Based in Park Rapids, Minn., Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center is focused on “turning challenges into opportunities” by providing high-quality, specialized services to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness. Services, which range from day training and habilitation services to community-supported and center-based employment, promote personal growth, dignity, and the development of work and social skills and provide opportunities for being part of the community.
“I chose Buena Vista University because of its personal approach, seamless transfer process, and competitive online tuition rates,” says Assistant Manager and Lead Instructor for Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center’s Bearly Used Thrift Store Angie French, who will begin working toward a bachelor’s degree in English this fall through BVU’s Online Programs.
“Buena Vista University is thrilled to partner with Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center through our Strategic Partnership initiative,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “Access to quality, affordable education opens many opportunities for individuals, which strengthens the communities we serve.”
