BVU, Availa Bank Form Strategic Partnership

In an effort to further enhance their employee benefits, Availa Bank joins BVU as a Strategic Partner. Through this partnership, Availa Bank employees and their families can receive a cost savings on a BVU education.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and Availa Bank have formed a Strategic Partnership, providing new opportunities that work to transform the communities they serve.

This partnership allows employees of Availa Bank, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

BVU professors and staff are also available for training programs, workshops, and more should officials with Availa Bank seek those services and expertise.

“We are excited to offer educational benefits to Availa Bank’s employees and their family members. Through this partnership, we will work together to create opportunities and build a stronger Iowa.”

Laura Todd, Director of Strategic Partnerships

“Partnering with BVU will create opportunities for our employees and their families, uplifting communities across Iowa,” says Availa Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President Jeff Scharfenkamp. “This new benefit provides a win-win situation, offering a savings on education and opening doors for many individuals.”

Availa Bank has approximately 200 employees in 17 locations that span across Iowa in Carroll, Coon Rapids, Pocahontas, Fort Dodge, Ames, Council Bluffs, Holstein, Jewell, Sioux City, Arcadia, Denison, Nevada, Webster City, Roland, and Ankeny. Committed to local people serving local needs, Availa Bank celebrates more than 150 years in communities throughout Iowa.

As an organization that values education and serving its community, Availa Bank formed the Availa Foundation. Through this foundation, donations of time and money support various local causes such as the Availa Kares Program that assists students of Hamilton County as they further their education.

“We are excited to offer educational benefits to Availa Bank’s employees and their family members,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “Through this partnership, we will work together to create opportunities and build a stronger Iowa.”
