BVU Aligns With Farmers Savings Bank Via Strategic Partnership

By partnering with Buena Vista University, Farmers Savings Bank now offers educational benefits, including tuition discounts, to its employees and their eligible family members.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and Farmers Savings Bank have joined forces as Strategic Partners, providing new opportunities to transform the communities both entities serve.

This partnership allows for employees of Farmers Savings Bank, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

“Collaborating with Buena Vista University through a Strategic Partnership is a good deal,” says Farmers Savings Bank Chief Financial Officer Corey Langner. “I definitely could see kids of some of our employees taking advantage of it, whether they go to school on the Storm Lake campus or take classes online—that’s definitely a huge advantage.”

Farmers Savings Bank has 20 employees who staff two branch locations in Fostoria and Milford. The 106-year-old community bank, which was founded by a group of area farmers in Fostoria, is a full-service financial institution offering loans and traditional FDIC-insured accounts, as well as insurance, investment, and trust services.

“I chose to go to BVU because it was close to home as I grew up in the Iowa Great Lakes area and at the time I was going into business,” says Langner, a 2000 BVU alum. “The Harold Walter Siebens School of Business was all underground. Siebens Forum and the BVU Library, which had just been renovated and expanded, was pretty impressive, and BVU was well known for its business school, so I was really drawn to that.”

“Buena Vista University is eager to become Strategic Partners with Farmers Savings Bank, extending educational benefits to its employees and eligible family members,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “We look forward to working together to continue to strengthen Northwest Iowa’s workforce and more through the power of education.”
