BVU Aligns With D.K. Arndt, P.C., Via Strategic Partnership

Collaboration with Buena Vista University allows for employees of D.K. Arndt, P.C., as well as eligible family members, to receive benefits to reduce the cost of education.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and D.K. Arndt, P.C., have joined ties as Strategic Partners to continue to serve and sustain their communities.

This partnership allows for employees of D.K. Arndt, P.C., as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

“This partnership allows our employees to potentially branch out and gives them a chance to take a class or classes they have been interested in but didn’t have the opportunity to,” says D.K. Arndt, P.C., CPA and Shareholder Betty Nash. “Being able to take classes and have our employees bring back their newfound knowledge to the firm will allow us to grow and develop fresh perspectives on various topics.”

D.K. Arndt, P.C., is a certified public accounting and consulting firm which offers services such as tax preparation, business planning, financial reporting, and bookkeeping and payroll. The business has 17 employees who staff offices in Forest City, Garner, Belmond, and Titonka.

Miranda Berneman, who works at D.K. Arndt, P.C.’s office in Belmond, is anticipating taking advantage of the educational benefits allotted by the firm’s Strategic Partnership with BVU.

“As a soon-to-be graduate of NIACC (North Iowa Area Community College), I look forward to continuing my education with Buena Vista University as I pursue my bachelor’s degree in accounting,” says Berneman. “The staff at BVU has been very supportive in this transition and I appreciate that.”

“BVU’s Mason City center gave me the opportunity to attend night school while working full time and raising a family,” says D.K. Arndt, P.C., CPA and Shareholder Doug Bruhns, ’99. “It provided me with a quality education and a bachelor’s degree in accounting without having to relocate to a larger community to realize my goals.”

BVU has long enjoyed strong educational ties in and around Mason City, home to NIACC, a campus that has collaborated with BVU for decades. Students enrolled in a program through NIACC can seamlessly transfer their credits toward their bachelor’s degree at BVU. Students receive personalized support including admissions and enrollment counseling and academic advising right in Mason City through BVU’s office on the NIACC campus.

“Buena Vista University is excited to welcome D.K. Arndt, P.C., as a new member of our Strategic Partnerships initiative,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “As we join together, we will be able to continue supporting our communities through educational opportunities.”
