The New Visions Series enables a promising student director to stage a fully-realized main stage production.  This opportunity adds to the undergraduate student’s skill set and other resources, which can open doors to graduate schools, internships and professional work.

This production of “Iowa” will be directed by Matthew Schulz, a junior theatre and vocal music performance major from Waverly, with technical direction by David Grant Walker, assistant professor of theatre.

The cast of “Iowa” is made up of BVU students and friends, including:

“Iowa” is a musical play that follows Becca, a teenage girl, whose mother just got engaged to her Facebook friend, Roger. Becca struggles with the spontaneous move to Roger’s home. She says goodbye to her bulimic best friend and beloved math teacher, and goes with her mother to Iowa, where the horizon stretches into infinity and things are not as they expected. The world of the play is a place of absurdity and wonder and is intended for mature audiences.
