Bankers & Beavers Build Day: BVU Alumni and Central Bank Team Up for Habitat for Humanity
Supported by Central Bank, BVU alumni and staff partnered with the bank’s team for a hands-on Habitat for Humanity Panel Build, living out BVU’s motto: Education for Service.
Buena Vista University (BVU) alumni and Central Bank staff recently put BVU’s motto, Education for Service, into action during Bankers & Beavers Build Day—a special Habitat for Humanity Panel Build event. With support from Central Bank’s sponsorship, volunteers gathered at the bank’s Waukee location to construct wall panels for a future Habitat for Humanity home.
The Panel Build offered a hands-on, community-driven volunteer experience where participants assembled the walls of a Habitat home right at their place of business. Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity provided the materials, tools, safety equipment, and professional guidance, while sponsors—like Central Bank—supplied the space, team leaders, and volunteers.
“We were proud to roll up our sleeves alongside Buena Vista University alumni for Bankers and Beavers Build,” said Brett Smith, Senior Vice President and Market President of Central Bank and BVU alumnus. “This opportunity to come together in support of Habitat for Humanity was a meaningful way for us to make a difference for a family in need.”
“BVU’s commitment to Education for Service was at the heart of this project,” said Sarah Johnson, Senior Director of Alumni and Donor Relations for Buena Vista University. “Bankers & Beavers Build Day was a great example of how collaboration and service can create lasting change in our communities.”
This meaningful partnership underscored BVU’s dedication to service and community engagement, reinforcing the university’s mission to empower students and alumni to use their skills and knowledge to benefit others.
