Disability Services
At Buena Vista University, accessibility is part of our commitment to each student reaching their greatest potential. We work in partnership with students to remove barriers and promote full participation in academic and residential life.
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, BVU provides reasonable accommodations to qualified students with disabilities to ensure equal access to and full participation in the educational experience. Accommodations are determined through an individualized, interactive process with each student.
To learn more about the full range of disability services and supports available, please contact the Center for Academic Excellence at museld@bvu.edu. For specific questions regarding housing accommodations, please contact the Office of Residence Life at residencelife@bvu.edu.

Disability-Related Grievances
Students who believe they have been subjected to disability discrimination or denied access to services or accommodations required by law have the right to seek resolution through the University’s grievance process.
Students are encouraged to make a reasonable effort to resolve concerns informally before pursuing formal grievance. In matters related to disability accommodations or access, this begins by contacting the Director of Disability Services in the Center for Academic Excellence at museld@bvu.edu. In matters related to the denial of accommodations, students can also use the appeals processes outlined in each policy.
If a satisfactory resolution cannot be reached and further action is deemed appropriate, students may utilize the University’s formal grievance process as outlined in the Student Grievance Policy: https://www.bvu.edu/student-grievance-policy.
While community members are encouraged to utilize these procedures for disability-related complaints, they also have a right to file a complaint directly with the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights: https://www.ed.gov/laws-and-policy/civil-rights-laws/file-complaint.
