Vicky Bell

  • Academic Advisor

Vicky Bell is an Academic Advisor at Buena Vista University, serving the Fort Dodge, Creston, and Denison areas as well as online students. As a BVU alum herself, Bell is eager to help students as they work to earn their degree.

Bell can empathize and understand the demands current non-traditional and transfer students at BVU face, after experiencing it first-hand. Following a change in her career, she decided to go back to college to earn her degree. At the time, Bell was a non-traditional student who was married and had a child at home. Despite the challenges that arose as a non-traditional student, she graduated from Iowa Central in 2012 and then went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in human services and organizational leadership from BVU in 2014. Bell furthered her education by earning her Masters of Science in addiction studies from Capella University in 2018. In addition, she is licensed by the Iowa Board of Certification as an International Alcohol and Drug Counselor (IADC).

Due to her appreciation for BVU and the difference it had made in her life, Bell returned to work for BVU. “I enjoy helping students create the life they want to live,” says Bell. “It’s very fulfilling.” She and her husband are now empty nesters that enjoy spending their time camping across Iowa.
