Norma Azpeitia is an Education Coordinator/Advisor for Buena Vista University’s Online programs. Azpeitia started working at BVU in 2021.

Azpeitia has a passion for higher education and enjoys working with a diverse student population. “One thing that I love the most about working in higher education is having the opportunity to help students achieve their academic goals, and BVU offers that opportunity,” she says. BVU’s Online Programs offer students the flexibility to continue working and attending school simultaneously.

Azpeitia graduated from Briar Cliff University with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications and earned her Master of Arts in educational administration in adult and higher education from the University of South Dakota. Before coming to BVU, Azpeitia worked as a bilingual Academic Advisor for over ten years at an Iowa community college. “As an immigrant and first-generation college graduate, I truly believe that no matter where you come from or what your background is, education can change your life and the life of your loved ones. Wherever you go your education will go with you.”

When Azpeitia is not working with BVU students, she enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with her big family, especially her nieces and nephews. “I enjoy sharing my educational journey with others, and I hope that my story can help our BVU students to achieve their dreams.”
