Dr. Lisa Remy

Lisa Remy, Ed.D., served as the Executive Director of the School Administrators of Iowa from July 2022 until her retirement in August 2026. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education, a master’s in Spanish teaching, superintendent’s certification, and a doctorate in educational administration, all from the University of Northern Iowa.

Lisa began her career as a Spanish teacher in Hudson, Iowa, and later transitioned into administration as a high school principal. In 2000, she joined the West Des Moines Community Schools, where she held a series of leadership roles, including associate principal at Valley High School, principal of Indian Hills Junior High, and associate superintendent of Human Resources. She ultimately culminated her tenure there as the Superintendent of West Des Moines Community Schools.

Throughout her distinguished career, Lisa has been recognized for her systemic impact on education. Her honors include the Iowa Association of School Boards’ Better Boardsmanship Superintendent's Award of Honor and recognition from the New Tech Network for her advocacy of project-based learning.
An active leader in her community, Lisa has served on numerous boards, including:

  • West Des Moines Rotary (Member)
  • Junior Achievement & West Des Moines Chamber (Board Member)
  • West Des Moines Community Schools Foundation (Board Member)
  • Greater Des Moines Partnership Talent Development (Board Member)
  • Global K-12 Education Research Association (Vice President)
     

In 2018, she was named one of the "17 People Making a Difference" by the Des Moines' Western Suburbs Business Journal. Her commitment to service is further reflected in her long-standing volunteer work with the Youth Justice Initiative Advisory Council and United Way’s Day of Caring.
