Barbara Wells

Barbara Wells completed 37 years as a music educator, teaching in the Storm Lake, Battle Creek-Ida Grove and Alta school systems. She has experience teaching all levels of instrumental music and general music. She received her B.M degree from the University of Iowa in music education and clarinet performance. Barbara teaches clarinet at BVU and performs with the BVU concert and jazz bands. She also teaches Elementary General Music Methods at the University.  

Barbara performs as principal clarinet in the Cherokee Symphony and the Cherokee Community Theater, in a variety of concert bands, and maintains a private clarinet studio. She is also active as a clinician, conductor and as an approved IHSMA adjudicator.  Her professional affiliations include the Iowa Bandmasters Association, Nafme, the Iowa Alliance for the Arts, and the Presbyterian Association of Musicians.

In addition to her musical pursuits, Barbara is active in Lakeside Presbyterian Church, where she is the music director, organist and director of the Chancel Choir. She is a board member for the Storm Lake Municipal Band and the Storm Lake Public Library. She makes her home in Storm Lake with husband Mike, who shares her love of music and music education.
