Guest Policy

A residents’ privilege to have guests in their residence hall room or suite room may not interfere with a roommate’s/suitemate’s right to privacy, sleep, and quiet space. Overnight visits should occur on a limited and infrequent basis and only with the consent of the other(s) sharing the room/suite.

  • Guests as well as other BVU students are limited to a stay of three consecutive nights. Staying longer than three nights is considered cohabitation.
  • At all times, guests must be accompanied by their host.
  • Guests must adhere to the same regulations as BVU students and their hosts will be held accountable for the behavior of their guests within the context of the Buena Vista University judicial system.
  • The frequency of guests and application of this policy will be reviewed and can be restricted by the Residence Life staff.

All individuals under the age of 18 must have written permission from their parent(s) / legal guardian to visit campus. This must be emailed to ResidenceLife@bvu.edu and will be approved by Residence Life Staff.
