BVU, Webster City Schools Connect Through Strategic Partnership
Through a Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University, the Webster City Community School District offers educational benefits to its employees and their eligible family members.
Buena Vista University (BVU) and the Webster City Community School District have bonded as Strategic Partners to help strengthen their communities and the regions they serve.
This partnership allows for employees of the Webster City Community School District, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.
“We are excited about our Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University as it offers our employees and their family members greater accessibility to one of life’s signature achievements: a college diploma.”

“We are excited about our Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University as it offers our employees and their family members greater accessibility to one of life’s signature achievements: a college diploma,” says Dr. Mandy Ross, Webster City Community School District Superintendent of Schools. “We are proud that more than three-quarters of our recent Webster City High School graduates have plans to continue their educational journey at either a community college or a four-year college or university. The Strategic Partnership with BVU can only serve to push this strong percentage to an even greater height, a development that will serve to build upon the strengths already seen in our communities.”
The Webster City Community School District, with a staff numbering more than 300 professionals, educates and serves more than 1,800 students in five school locations. For the past seven years, the district has been awarded funding by the Iowa Department of Education through Iowa’s Teacher Leadership and Compensation (TLC) system, which is designed to tap into the expertise of top teachers in an effort to improve classroom instruction, raise student achievement, attract and retain more effective teachers, and reward educators for increased responsibilities. Teacher Leaders within the district strive to increase learning for all students by strengthening teaching practices through job-embedded professional development.
The Webster City schools, which boast a graduation rate of 95 percent, provide a comprehensive, diverse, and challenging array of rich learning experiences to meet the needs of all students.
BVU has enjoyed a long working relationship in and around Webster City through Iowa Central Community College (ICCC), a site for BVU instruction for decades. ICCC students seamlessly transfer their credits toward their bachelor’s degree at BVU. Students receive personalized support including admissions and enrollment counseling and academic advising in nearby Fort Dodge through BVU’s office on the ICCC campus.
“Buena Vista University is excited to partner with the Webster City Community School District as both educational leaders do all we can to bolster empower students and their families as they strive to ensure a successful future for us all,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd.
