BVU Opens Sioux City Location in Partnership with Western Iowa Tech Community College

BVU has been partnering with community colleges in Iowa for more than 40 years and has 15 additional locations across the state.

Buena Vista University will continue to serve the Siouxland area by opening its newest location in Sioux City with long-time partner Western Iowa Tech (WIT) Community College. To celebrate the occasion, an open house will take place on July 10 from 10 – 11 a.m. in room A415 of the Robert H. Kiser Building on the WIT campus.

“Together, WIT and BVU will be able to provide access to a great four-year experience for our students.”

Dr. Brian Lenzmeier

BVU’s Sioux City location will offer degree completion programs in accounting, business education, criminology and criminal justice, educational studies, elementary education, English, special education, human services, history, psychology, and more, with courses starting Aug. 27.

“I am excited by the new partnership we have with Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City,” said Dr. Brian Lenzmeier, provost and vice president for academic affairs at BVU. “They have great facilities and great people managing and teaching in those facilities. Together, WIT and BVU will be able to provide access to a great four-year experience for our students.”

The location will provide classes in a variety of formats, including face-to-face courses in the evening, online courses, and courses delivered via web-based videos. All courses are designed to help working adults earn an affordable bachelor’s degree and are offered in eight-week sessions. One hundred percent of Associate of Arts degree credits from WIT transfer to BVU.

BVU has been partnering with community colleges in Iowa for more than 40 years and has 15 additional locations across the state.

Light refreshments will be served at the open house, with remarks to follow from BVU President Joshua D. Merchant and WIT President Terry A. Murrell. An official ribbon cutting will also take place in conjunction with the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce.
