BVU Joins Buena Vista County in Strategic Partnership
A Strategic Partnership between Buena Vista University and Buena Vista County creates opportunities for county employees and their family members to earn their degree.
Buena Vista University (BVU) and Buena Vista County have joined ties as Strategic Partners, strengthening the communities both entities are rooted in.
This partnership allows for employees of Buena Vista County, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.
BVU professors and staff are also available for training programs, workshops, and more should officials with Buena Vista County seek those services and expertise.

“A Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University represents a win-win situation and opens opportunities for our community members,” says Buena Vista County Auditor & Commissioner of Elections Sue Lloyd, a BVU graduate. “Through this partnership, our employees and their eligible family members have a greater opportunity to further their education.”
Buena Vista County is comprised of six school districts and 10 incorporated cities: Albert City, Alta, Lakeside, Linn Grove, Marathon, Newell, Rembrandt, Sioux Rapids, Storm Lake, and Truesdale. With the courthouse located in Storm Lake, Buena Vista County has approximately 145 employees that provide services throughout the county.
