BVU, Heartland Management Alliance bond as Strategic Partners

Buena Vista University partners with Heartland Management Alliance to provide educational benefits to four organizations that serve Iowa.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and Heartland Management Alliance have joined a Strategic Partnership to benefit the communities both organizations serve.

This partnership allows for employees of Heartland Management Alliance, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

BVU professors and staff are also available for training programs, workshops, and more should officials with Heartland Management Alliance seek those services and expertise.

“We are proud to partner with Heartland Management Alliance, an organization that provides vital services to community members throughout Iowa.”

Laura Todd, BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships

“As an organization that highly values education, we are excited to become a Strategic Partner with Buena Vista University,” says Heartland Management Alliance Chief Financial Officer Carol Smith, a BVU graduate. “Our partnership will allow us to provide additional benefits and growth opportunities to our employees and their family members.”

Heartland Management Alliance is comprised of four organizations, providing services to 11 counties in Iowa. CARE is located in Afton, Innovative Industries is located in Creston, Support Services of South Central Iowa is located in Greenfield, and Southern Iowa Resources for Families has sites in Corydon, Creston, and Leon. The organizations provide home and community-based services to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or mental illnesses.

BVU has long enjoyed strong educational ties throughout Iowa, including Creston, home to Southwestern Community College, a campus that has collaborated with BVU for decades. Students enrolled in a program through SCC can seamlessly transfer their credits toward their bachelor’s degree at BVU. Students receive personalized support including admissions and enrollment counseling and academic advising right in Creston through BVU’s office on the SCC campus.

“We are proud to partner with Heartland Management Alliance, an organization that provides vital services to community members throughout Iowa,” says Laura Todd, BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships. “BVU strives to partner with organizations and provide educational benefits to uplift communities and strengthen the workforce.”
