Buena Vista University has retained its standing as the third best value school among Midwest regional colleges in U.S. News & World Report's 2015 Best Colleges Rankings publication. This is the third consecutive year that BVU has held this ranking.

The best value category takes into account a college's academic quality, based on its U.S. News Best Colleges 2015 ranking, and the 2013-14 net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid. The U.S. News publication states, "The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal. Only schools ranked in or near the top half of their categories are included because U.S. News considers the most significant values to be among colleges that are above average academically."

BVU also appeared in the Regional Colleges Midwest Rankings category, tied for 11th place, the same spot it held in last year's publication.

This year's 30th edition of Best Colleges includes data on nearly 1,800 colleges and universities. It formulates the college rankings through an accumulation of data on a peer assessment test, freshman retention rate, graduation rate, class size and student-to-faculty ratio. It also takes into account the percentage of full time faculty, the ratio of students who were in the 25th to 75th percentile on their ACT or SAT scores and the percentage of freshman in the top 25 percent of their graduating class.
