BVU Concert Band Presents Annual Winter Concert
The Buena Vista University Concert Band, under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music Jerry Bertrand, will present its annual Winter Concert on Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m. at Schaller Chapel on the BVU campus.
The Buena Vista University Concert Band, under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music Jerry Bertrand, will present its annual Winter Concert on Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m. at Schaller Chapel on the BVU campus. The performance is free and open to the public to attend.
The program will open with a paso doble by Jose Franco called "Aguero". The concert band and members of the BVU Concert Choir will work collaboratively to perform "Meridian" by Ola Gjeilo, which uses the voices as a color addition to the ensemble. Other works on the program include, "Sinfonia Nobilissima" by Robert Jager, "Perthshire Majesty" by Samuel R. Hazo and "Twin Ports Overture" by Mark Camphouse.
On the lighter side of the program, the concert band will perform selections from "Les Misérables", which made its debut on Broadway on March 12, 1987. Finishing the concert is "Galop" from the musical comedy "Moscow, Cheremushky" by Dmitri Shostakovich.
