Buena Vista University Welcomes High Enrollment and Expands Educational Access

The university achieved the highest Storm Lake undergraduate enrollment since 2015, in addition to record graduate numbers and expanded programming.

Buena Vista University is proud to announce the arrival of another competitive class of Beavers, resulting in the highest Storm Lake undergraduate enrollment in eight years. Additionally, BVU has again reached record graduate enrollment.

This first-year Storm Lake undergraduate class is primarily made up of students who hail from across Iowa and throughout the Midwest region, many of whom are first-generation. "We are thrilled to welcome such a talented group of students to BVU, many of whom are from our home state and the first in their family to take this next step," said Buena Vista University President Brian A. Lenzmeier, Ph. D. "Our commitment to Iowa is unwavering, and we are proud of the award programs we offer that expand educational access within our area."

To build off its strong enrollment, BVU launched two opportunities for Fall 2024 Storm Lake undergraduate recruits that provide Iowa students with affordable access to a BVU education. The Iowa Access Grant ensures that qualifying Iowa students receive 100% tuition coverage, while the Build-Up-Iowa Scholarship provides all qualifying Iowa students with an additional $2,000 per year in addition to merit scholarships and is renewable for up to four years.

In addition to its growing numbers and expanded award programming, BVU has once again been recognized by U.S. News & World Report in several categories, including Best Regional Universities in the Midwest, Best Value among Regional Universities in the Midwest, and Top Performers on Social Mobility among Regional Universities in the Midwest.

"We are honored to again receive this recognition from U.S. News & World Report," said Lenzmeier. "It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students, and we will continue to work hard to provide our students with opportunities that help them reach their greatest potential."

BVU has also launched two new online Master of Arts in Teaching programs, in Special Education and Secondary Education, and forged a partnership with Des Moines University to create enhanced pathways for students seeking medical and health sciences careers.
