Buena Vista University Mourns Loss of Former Student
BVU is saddened by the recent death of 2015 graduate, Brett Heitkamp, who passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4. He received a bachelor's degree in management and was a three-time letter winner for the BVU men's basketball team.
Buena Vista University is saddened by the recent death of 2015 graduate, Brett Heitkamp, who passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4. Brett received a bachelor’s degree in management with a concentration in sports management in May 2015, and was a three-time letter winner for the BVU men’s basketball team.
Brett was deeply spiritual, participating in Impact and Spiritual Life student organizations on campus. He was also very active in the Summit Evangelical Free Church in Alta, Iowa.
Last spring, Brett was invited to play in the iBall Pro Combine, an exposure camp for individuals with goals of building pro sports careers, with pro scouts from various levels in attendance.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 9 from 4-8 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. A funeral service will be on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. at Johnston Evangelical Free Church, 9901 NW 62nd Ave. in Johnston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Johnston Evangelical Free Church or to Sports Ambassadors.
