Through fun and engaging activities students explore the fascinating country of China. Students are introduced to new foods and learning how to use chop sticks, do traditional calligraphy with a brush, and tie Chinese knots.

Event planning and management requires a lot of hands-on work and effective communication techniques, so Dr. Rebekah Neary-DeLaPorte uses hands-on activities and presentations to demonstrate what it takes to be an event planner.

The "Recreational Math" course introduces students to math in non-traditional ways. One popular class activity is origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, which allows students to create three-dimensional models of geometric equations.

Senior digital media major Tyson-Jay Domingo is busy at work in his January internship in BVU's University Marketing & Communications office. He is photographing on-campus activities and helping with graphic design work.

Instead of classroom discussion, students in Dr. Swasti Bhattacharyya's January Interim class "Jesus Goes to the Movies" work in groups to draw their responses to the different portraits of Jesus presented in the gospels.

The Undergraduate Rural Medicine Education and Development program has selected three students for this year's program, and on Jan. 5 they participated in a white coat ceremony to begin three-week internships.

BVU has been named to the 2014 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The distinction is the highest federal recognition that colleges and universities can receive for civic engagement.

How do BVU students take part in so many experiences and still graduate on time?

The BVU senior will be the first student from Buena Vista University to attend the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics study-abroad program. She will live and study in Budapest, Hungary, during the Spring 2015 semester.
